30 minutes drive south and whilst on your way to Waihi beach, stop at Paeroa. A small town (that is big enough to have a McDonald’s), is also the home of the famous Lemon & Paeroa drink. This, from an earlier time when the town used water from a natural spring to make a delightful popular kiwi drink… It’s still popular, but now made in Auckland by coke, without the natural spring water. Don’t forget, Paeroa is also on the famous Hauraki Rail Trail for keen cyclists. Ride Miranda to Kopu (1hr 45min), then onto Paeroa (1 hr 30min). If you leave Miranda around 10am you’ll have ample time. Pre-book the 5pm Paeroa-Miranda shuttle from the Cycle Trail Website.
